Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components.To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly.Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.

Lower the temperature of bearing (15). Use Tooling (L) in order to install bearing (15) into the head end of stick cylinder (4) to the depth of Dimension (X). Dimension (X) is equal to 7.2 mm (0.28 inch).
Use Tooling (F) in order to install lip seals (14) to the head end of stick cylinder (4) .

Lower the temperature of bearing (13). Use Tooling (M) in order to install bearing (13) into the rod end of stick cylinder (4) to the depth of Dimension (Y). Dimension (Y) is equal to 7.5 mm (0.30 inch).
Use Tooling (F) in order to install lip seals (12) into the rod end of stick cylinder (4) .

Apply Tooling (J) to the bores in stick cylinder (4) .
Attach a suitable lifting device to stick cylinder (4). The weight of stick cylinder (4) is approximately 339 kg (747 lb). Use the suitable lifting device in order to position stick cylinder (4) to the machine.

Apply Tooling (J) to pin assembly (9) .
Install shims (11) (not shown). Be sure that the stick cylinder has a maximum lateral clearance of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch).
Install spacer (10) and pin assembly (9) .

Connect hose assemblies (8) .

Extend stick cylinder (4) .
Install shims (7) (not shown). Be sure that stick cylinder (4) has a maximum lateral clearance of 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) and that shims (7) are on the same side as the shims on the head end.
Apply Tooling (J) to pin assembly (5) .
Install spacer (6) and pin assembly (5) .

Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to stick cylinder guard (3). The weight of stick cylinder guard (3) is approximately 168 kg (370 lb). Use Tooling (C) and the suitable lifting device in order to position stick cylinder guard (3) to the machine. Attach stick cylinder guard (3) to the boom.

Remove Tooling (A) and install cap (1) onto the hydraulic tank.
