Information:
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not attempt to tighten hose connections when the coolant is hot, the hose can come off causing burns.Cooling System Coolant Additive contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Replace the two thermostats on a regular basis in order to reduce the chance of unscheduled downtime and of problems with the cooling system.Note: The thermostats should be replaced after the cooling system has been cleaned. Replace the thermostats while the cooling system is drained or while the coolant is drained to a level that is below the thermostat housing.Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for additional information on how to drain and dispose of coolant.
Failure to replace the engine's thermostat on a regularly scheduled basis could cause severe engine damage.
Park the machine on a level surface and stop the engine.
Release the cooling system pressure. Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System Pressure Release".

Remove bolts (5) and remove the thermostat housing assembly.
Remove the thermostats and the seals from the thermostat housing assembly.
If the thermostat is installed incorrectly, it will cause the engine to overheat.
Install new seals and new thermostats in the housing.
Install the thermostat housing assembly and install bolts (5) for the thermostat housing.
Install bolts (4) for elbow (3).
Install plate (1) and install nuts (2).
Connect the hose assembly to elbow (6). Tighten the hose clamps.
Replace the engine access covers and close the grill assembly.
If necessary, add the coolant solution. Note: Refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Cooling System Specifications" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for further information.
Start the engine and remove the radiator cap.
In order to purge air from the system, run the engine until the thermostat opens and allow the coolant level to stabilize.
Check the coolant level. Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant Level - Check" for further information.
Install the radiator cap and stop the engine.
