Information:
3-Locking bolt and washer. 4-Recoil spring bolt nut. Tighten the nut against the recoil spring rear pilot (5).6. Remove the drawbar pin from between the sprocket and the track.7. Separate the track. See the topic SEPARATING TRACK.
Be certain the hydraulic pressure in the track adjusting cylinder is completely relieved.
8-Bolts (four). 9-Recoil rod. Move as far forward as possible. 10-Track adjuster cylinder. Move as far to the rear as possible. 11-Recoil spring front stops (two). Remove the recoil spring assembly. On machines with screw type track adjusters, disconnect the track adjusting screw from the recoil spring adjusting nut. See the topic TRACK ADJUSTING MECHANISM.After installing the recoil spring stops (8), loosen the recoil spring bolt nut (4) until it extends .06 in. (1,5 mm) beyond the end of the recoil spring bolt. Install the locking bolt and washer (3). Recoil Spring Disassembly
The springs in the recoil spring assembly are assembled under a force of several tons. During disassembly and assembly, it is imperative that the proper tools be used in the proper manner when performing these operations.
To disassemble the recoil spring assembly, use a press with a minimum throat depth of 33 in. (838,2 mm) and an 8" (203,2 mm) ram travel.1. Position the recoil spring assembly in the press with the front pilot up as illustrated.
2-Recoil spring bolt nut. Apply enough pressure to the recoil spring assembly to remove the nut.3. Back off the press to decompress the recoil spring.
The recoil spring assembly parts identied are: 1-Locking bolt and washer. 2-Recoil spring bolt nut. 3-Rear pilot. 4-Sleeve. 5-Recoil spring. 6-Front pilot 7-Recoil spring bolt.Recoil Spring Assembly
1. Position the rear pilot on the press bed. Install the recoil spring, sleeve and front pilot.2. Install an FT572 Guide Pin (Fabricated Tool) onto the recoil spring bolt. Install the recoil spring bolt and guide pin as illustrated.
3-With the recoil spring assembly centered beneath the press ram, compress the recoil spring to 22.50 in. (520,7 mm). Measure from the rear face of the front pilot to the front face of the rear pilot. 4-Remove the FT572 Guide Pin.5. Install the recoil spring bolt nut and tighten against the rear pilot.Track Adjusting Mechanism
Removal and Installation (Screw Adjusting Type)
1. Separate the track. See the topic SEPARATING TRACK.
2-Bolt. 3-Bolts (three). Loosen the bolts. 4-Track adjusting screw. Turn the adjusting screw out of the adjusting nut (5). Remove from idler yoke arms. 5-Adjusting nut.
The components of the screw type track adjuster are: 4-Track adjusting screw. 5-Adjusting nut. 6-Locking bolt and washer. 7-Recoil spring rear pilot. 8-Sleeve. 9-Recoil spring bolt nut. 10-Recoil spring.Removal and Installation (Hydraulic Adjusting Type)
1. Separate the track. See the topic SEPARATING TRACK.2. Move the front idler as far forward as possible.
Before attempting to remove any part of the track adjusting mechanism, be certain the hydraulic pressure in the track adjusting cylinder is completely relieved and the cylinder can be moved to the rear into the recoil spring front pilot.
At installation see the topic FILLING AND BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC TRACK ADJUSTER.
3-Bolt. 4-Bolts (three). Loosen
