Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Lift lever (4) and turn the lever counterclockwise until the lever stops. Remove the fuel tank cap.
Inspect seal (5) for damage. If necessary, replace the seal.
Remove screws (1), filter assembly (2), valve (3) and the gaskets.
Remove the strainer from the filler opening.
Wash the fuel tank cap and the strainer in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Install a new cap filter kit. Install the other components in reverse order.
Install the strainer and the fuel tank cap.
