Information:
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Introduction
When the brake system has been serviced or the hydraulic oil has been replaced, air will need to be removed. Use the following procedure to remove air from the brake system:Required Tools

Clear all personnel from the machine and from the area around the machine.
Start the engine.

Engine speed dial
Set the engine speed dial at "10".
Lower the left console.
Position the machine on level ground. Check the visibility and adjust the mirrors for the best vision close to the machine.
Fully depress the service brake pedal until the service brake pedal locks mechanically.
Lower the rail axles in order that all tires are fully off the ground, and shunt the road mode.
Fully extend the bucket cylinder and place the bucket on the ground.

Push down on the parking brake button in order to activate the parking brake.Note: The indicator light will be illuminated when the parking brake control is activated.
Engage the swing lock pin.

Set the engine speed dial at "1".

(1) Purge fitting
Install one end of the transparent tube on purge fitting (1).
Place the other end of the transparent tube in a suitable container.Adjustment Procedure

Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Loosen purge fitting (1).
Depress the service brake pedal and hold the service brake pedal.Note: Do not release the service brake pedal when purge fitting (1) is open. Air may enter the brake system through purge fitting (1).
Tighten purge fitting (1) to the specified torque.
