There are nine major components which function within the main control valve.Relief Valve
The relief valve acts as a secondary relief valve for the brake charging system. If the pump control valve for the piston pump fails, this failure may cause excessive pressure in the charging system and the relief valve will operate in order to protect the accumulators.Pressure Reducing Valve
The pressure reducing valve reduces the pressure within the braking system in order to supply pilot oil for the pilot control actuators for the ejector system.Diverter Valve
The diverter valve controls the flow of oil from the piston pump (steering and ejector) to the ejector system and the steering system. This valve also acts as a priority valve which gives a priority oil supply to the steering system.Diverter Valve
The diverter valve is activated when there is a drop in oil pressure within the braking system. The diverter valve signals the piston pump (brake, ejector, and fan) to charge the braking system to a predetermined pressure. This determines the cut in pressure for the piston pump.Relief Valve
The relief valve activates when the maximum brake system pressure is achieved. The relief valve works with the diverter valve. The cut out pressure for the piston pump is decided by the relief valve and the diverter valve.Solenoid Valve
The solenoid valve controls the pilot signal pressure. The pilot pressure determines the output of the piston pump (brake, ejector, and fan). The system demand is dependent on the engine temperature. Temperature sensors that are located on the engine signal the ECM. The ECM then controls the solenoid valve in order to determine oil flow from the piston pump.Diverter Valve
The diverter valve acts as a priority valve which gives a priority oil supply to the braking system over the ejector system.Solenoid Valve
The solenoid valve directs oil pressure in order to disengage the parking brake. The solenoid valve also releases the oil pressure in order to engage the parking brake. The solenoid valve receives a signal from the parking brake control in the cab.Diverter Valve
The diverter valve works and signal pressure from solenoid valve work together in order to allow a variable flow rate but maintaining a constant oil pressure in the system.
