Place wood block (4) under the rod end of steering cylinder (3). This will help to support the steering cylinder during removal, if necessary.

Remove bolt (6) and pin (5) from the rod end of the steering cylinder. Note: Make sure that there are no personnel near the machine. Do not disconnect the steering frame lock.
Start the engine. If you are removing the left steering cylinder, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. If you are removing the right steering cylinder, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. This will retract the steering cylinder so that the cylinder may be removed from the machine. Stop the engine.
Use Tooling (A) and shop air to place a vacuum on the hydraulic tank.

Disconnect hose (8) from the rod end of steering cylinder (3). Remove bolt (7) and place hose (8) aside.

Disconnect hose (9) from the head end of the steering cylinder.
After the hoses have been plugged, remove the shop air and Tooling (A) in order to remove the vacuum from the hydraulic tank.

Remove bolt (10) and pin (11) from the head end of steering cylinder (3). Remove the steering cylinder. Installation Procedure

A FT-1114 Vacuum Cap 1 Note: Make sure that there are no personnel near the machine. Do not disconnect the steering frame lock.
Start the engine. If you are installing the left steering cylinder, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. If you are installing the right steering cylinder, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. This will allow the retracted steering cylinder to be installed on the machine. Stop the engine.

Place steering cylinder (3) in position for installation. Place wood block (4) under the rod end of steering cylinder (3). This will help to support the steering cylinder during installation.

Install pin (11) and bolt (10) in the head end of steering cylinder (3).
Use Tooling (A) and shop air to place a vacuum on the hydraulic tank.

Connect hose (9) to the head end of the steering cylinder.

Connect hose (8) to the rod end of steering cylinder (3). Install bolt (7) in order to support hose (8).

Install pin (5) and bolt (6) in the rod end of the steering cylinder.
After the hoses have been connected, remove the shop air and Tooling (A) in order to remove the vacuum from the hydraulic tank.

Remove the wood block from the rod end of steering cylinder (3). Connect grease line (2) to the head end of steering cylinder (3).

Install both access panels (1) on the side of the machine. End By:
Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
