Non-Redundant System
In a non-redundant system, the flywheel unit will supply the full rated load. If the flywheel unit malfunctions, the load will transfer automatically to the bypass line without interruption.Load Sharing
In parallel operation, all inverter units automatically share load at all times. The output current of an individual flywheel unit will be no more than +/- 5% unbalanced. The parallel load sharing function is set for the flywheel unit.Protection and Back Feed Prevention
Fuses protect the critical output bus from excess current flow. Bypass circuit breakers protect each bypass circuit phase. Blown fuse monitors indicate when a blown fuse will prevent the static bypass switch path from being available for automatic transfers. The static bypass switch will not back feed UPS power to the distribution system during a power outage.The static bypass switch is provided with redundant power outage sensing circuits and disconnects. The back feed prevention system operates even if two component failures exist simultaneously. If a shorted SCR is detected, the static bypass switch is isolated. An alarm condition is annunciated at the SIO Cabinet control panel. The load remains on conditioned and protected power after detection of a shorted SCR and after isolation of the static bypass switch.
