Remove end cover (1) from directional control valve (4) .
Add flow balance shims (2) in order to decrease the steering time for a right turn. This causes the machine to steer to the right more quickly. The steering time for a left turn will increase. This causes the machine to steer to the left more slowly.If you remove shims, the results will be the opposite. Use enough shims so that the steering times are nearly identical.Thickness of one new 6J-6516 Shim ... 0.254 mm (0.010 inch)Note: One 6J-6516 Shim changes the steering time at high idle by approximately .4 seconds.Thickness of one new 6J-6517 Shim ... 0.12 mm (0.005 inch)Note: One 6J-6517 Shim changes the steering time at high idle by approximately 0.2 seconds.
Install end cover (1) on directional control valve (4) .If both steering times are too slow, the diameter of flow control orifice (5) is too small.
