Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses, and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Open the engine hood.

Place a suitable container under the machine. Open drain valves (1) .
Cut wire tie (2) .

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove the secondary fuel filter element.

Disconnect two hose assemblies (5) .
Remove four bolts (3) and the washers. Remove fuel filter base (4) .Installation Procedure

Install fuel filter base (4). Install four bolts (3) and the washers.
Connect two hose assemblies (5) .

Install the secondary fuel filter element.
Install a new wire tie (2) .
Close drain valves (1) .
Close the engine hood.End By: Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
