INSTALL NEW FUEL TRANSFER PUMP ON 992C LOADERS, 1256, PI7076 U-25 A-17.3 AU-18 C-23 O-18 E-16.3 SEE JUNE 29, 1984 optional Problem The fuel transfer pump on 992C Loaders has a lip-type seal around the pump shaft at the tachometer drive end. On the listed loaders, this seal is not strong enough to withstand the fuel pressure and leaks occur. A new transfer pump is now used. The new pump has a stiffer seal and gasket material is molded around the seal nose to prevent leaks around the outside diameter of the seal case. Also, this new transfer pump uses an improved bypass valve design which reduces the possibility of fuel leakage past the valve seat and a new idler shaft which better resists wear and galling. Affected Loaders and New Parts Needed 42X1-Up and 49Z1-49Z282, 284-294, 296, 297, 299, 302, 305-307, 310, 313, 315, 321, 325, 328-332, 334-336, 339-372, 374-377, 379, 380, 382, 383, 394-398 All 3412 Engines, 73W5061-Up, have the new transfer pump. Parts Needed: 1 - 4W5477 Pump Group 1 - 4N1105 Gasket 2 - 3J1907 Seal (Fuel Lines) 1 - 4M8303 Seal (Tachometer Drive) Action Requested (No Parts Stock Action Needed) Install the new parts on all the listed loaders. Warranty Allowances (SEE ILLUSTRATION) Parts Disposition Dispose of the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts disposition. When the former pump is scrapped, destroy it to prevent it from being reused. Termination Date April 30, 1985.
