START BY:a. remove cushion hitch load cylinder 1. Put a support under the cushion hitch so the hitch will not fall to either side when the "H" links are removed.2. Fasten a hoist to top "H" link (2). Remove bracket (4) and retainers (1) from both sides of the "H" link. Use two men to remove the pin from the "H" link. Weight is 29 kg (64 lb.). As the pin is removed, remove brass washer (3) from both sides of the "H" link. Remove the "H" link. Weight is 124 kg (273 lb.). 3. Fasten a hoist to the lower "H" link. Pull front pin (7) out until the "H" link can be lifted. Lift the front of the "H" link, and use two men to remove pin (7). Remove brass washer (5).4. Disconnect grease line (8) from retainer (6) on both sides of the "H" link. Remove both retainers (6). 5. Pull rear pin (10) out until it is clear of the hitch. Lift the "H" link until pin (10) can be removed. Use two persons to remove pin (10). Weight is 29 kg (64 lb.). Remove brass washers (9) from both sides of the "H" link. Move the "H" link out through the right side of the hitch to remove. Weight is 124 kg (273 lb.).
Do not drop the bearing adapter inside the hitch casting when the bushings at the top of the hitch are removed.
6. Use tooling (A) to remove the eight bushings in the cushion hitch pivot points. 7. Use tooling (A) to remove the eight bearings and seals from the "H" links. Pull the bearings and seals to the inside of the "H" links as shown.Install Cushion Hitch "H" Link Bearings
1. When bearings (1) are installed in the "H" links, be sure the open end of the grooves are toward the outside of the "H" links as shown. 2. Use tooling (A) to install bearings (1) in the "H" links until they are even with the outside surface of the "H" links. 3. Use tooling (B) to install the seals in the "H" links with the lip in as shown. Put clean grease on the lips of the seals. 4. Use tooling (A) as shown to install the eight bushings (2) in the hitch until they are even with the outside surface of the hitch. 5. Fasten a hoist, and put the lower "H" link in the hitch. Start the rear pin in the "H" link. Put the rear holes in the "H" link in alignment with the hole in the hitch. Put brass washers (5) in position on both sides of the hitch and slide the pin through the hitch.6. Install retainers (6) on both sides of the "H" link, and connect grease lines (7) to both retainers.7. Install pin (4) in the front of the "H" link, and put the hole in the "H" link in alignment with the hole in the hitch. Slide pin (4) through brass washer (3)
Do not drop the bearing adapter inside the hitch casting when the bushings at the top of the hitch are removed.
6. Use tooling (A) to remove the eight bushings in the cushion hitch pivot points. 7. Use tooling (A) to remove the eight bearings and seals from the "H" links. Pull the bearings and seals to the inside of the "H" links as shown.Install Cushion Hitch "H" Link Bearings
1. When bearings (1) are installed in the "H" links, be sure the open end of the grooves are toward the outside of the "H" links as shown. 2. Use tooling (A) to install bearings (1) in the "H" links until they are even with the outside surface of the "H" links. 3. Use tooling (B) to install the seals in the "H" links with the lip in as shown. Put clean grease on the lips of the seals. 4. Use tooling (A) as shown to install the eight bushings (2) in the hitch until they are even with the outside surface of the hitch. 5. Fasten a hoist, and put the lower "H" link in the hitch. Start the rear pin in the "H" link. Put the rear holes in the "H" link in alignment with the hole in the hitch. Put brass washers (5) in position on both sides of the hitch and slide the pin through the hitch.6. Install retainers (6) on both sides of the "H" link, and connect grease lines (7) to both retainers.7. Install pin (4) in the front of the "H" link, and put the hole in the "H" link in alignment with the hole in the hitch. Slide pin (4) through brass washer (3)
