General Information
The axle and the drum on the machines are hydrostatically driven. The drive system consists of the following components:
A piston type pump with two rotating groups in a single housing
A two speed piston type motor on the drum
A planetary gear reducer with an integral spring applied, hydraulically released brake on the drum
A two speed piston type motor on the axle
An axle with a limited slip differential and a planetary gear reducer for each wheelThe axle can be equipped with an optional spring applied, hydraulically released brake for each wheel. The steering pump and fan pump supply charge oil to the propel system.

(16) Diagnostic connector Note: The blue lines in the above illustration indicate an input signal. The red lines indicate an output signal. The red and blue lines indicate two-way communication.Machine ECM (1) monitors input signals from the following components in order to control the propel system:
Engine ECM (4)
Keypad (5)
Parking brake switch (6)
Propel lever (7)
Axle speed sensor (8)
Drum speed sensor (9)Machine ECM (1) evaluates the input signals and determines if any output signals should be sent to the solenoids. Machine ECM (1) uses display (10) in order to provide information to the operator about the propel system during operation. If propel lever (7) is operating in the REVERSE range, the machine ECM sends a signal to engine ECM (4). This signal causes the engine ECM to energize back up relay (3). If the speed range is set to high, the machine ECM sends a signal to the engine ECM. This signal causes the engine ECM to energize shift solenoid (2).The propel system section of this presentation is divided into segments. The first segments show the location of all electrical and hydraulic components on the machine which are part of the propel system. A brief discussion of each component is provided in these segments. The last two sections explain the operation of the electrical and hydraulic systems. Schematics are used in this segment to trace current through the electrical system and hydraulic oil through the hydraulic system.
