Caterpillar's Fluids Analysis Group recommends sampling the oil from all compartments (engine and non-engine) at an interval of 250 hours. The 250 hour sampling interval will enable the monitoring of data trends much more closely, improving the component life cycle management capabilities of the S*O*S Program world wide. Additionally, the more frequent sampling will increase the odds of detecting a potential failure, enhancing the predictive repair indicator capabilities of the program. The improved data trends will greatly contribute to risk assessment capabilities, benefiting Caterpillar and its dealers by enabling more accurate and timely management of Customer Support Agreements (CSA's). Eventually, the additional data collected will provide Caterpillar and the dealer network with a better understanding of the operational and life cycle parameters of various major components.
