A minimum amount of material should be removed to clean up the bore. An excessive amount may weaken the structure.
4. A maximum chamfer/radius as shown in Illustration 2 can be left at the intersection of the side and bottom of bore A.5. Machine bore B to the dimensions shown in Illustration 2. The centerline of bore B, must be in alignment with the centerline of bore A, within .75 mm (.029").6. Clean housing thoroughly and remove all chips.7. Machine a mild steel tube to the dimensions shown in Illustration 3.
Illustration 3. Dimensions of fabricated tube.8. Clean outside diameter of tube and inside diameter of bore A. Prepare the two surfaces with 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer and put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on both surfaces. Press the tube into bore A until it comes into contact with the bottom of the bore.9. Install the 1N3165 Spool and the 1W9860 Spring into the 1N3234 Guide. Install the guide into the threaded tube until the guide comes into contact with the bottom of the bore. Tighten to a torque of 40 N m (30 lb ft).
Do not overtighten as the tube could be forced from the bore.
10. Install the 1W4704 Retainer.11. Install the remaining parts of the former engine oil pump group.12. Install the front housing on the engine.Adaptable As: This rework procedure is adaptable as shown in the chart.
