Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the unit injector hydraulic pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Unit Injector Hydraulic Pump - Remove".
Remove the front cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Front Cover - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect harness assemblies (3), (5), and (6).
Disconnect hose assemblies (1), (2), and (4). Remove the O-ring seals.

Remove bolts (8), retainer plate (9), and gear (7).

Disconnect the harness assemblies for timing sensors (10) from the engine harness assembly. Remove timing sensors (10) from the front housing.
Remove mounting bolts (12) from the unit injector hydraulic pump drive. Remove pin (14) and the seal.
Remove bottom bolts (13) from the unit injector hydraulic pump drive. Remove unit injector hydraulic pump drive (11).

Remove O-ring seals (15) from unit injector hydraulic pump drive (11).
