rods are used in marine engines to help prevent corrosion in the engine. The zinc rod is threaded in to a brass plug and the brass plug is screwed into the engine. When threading the zinc rod into the brass plug, it is important that NO ADHESIVE OR PIPE SEALANT BE APPLIED TO THE THREADS OF THE ZINC ROD. The shoulder of the zinc rod that contacts the brass plug can be coated with 9S3263 Thread Lock. This will help hold the rod in place in the brass plug. The threads of the brass plug can be coated with 5P3413 Pipe Sealant before the plug is installed in the engine.
