Using a C-clamp on the turbochargerNote: If necessary, loosen the bolts for the turbocharger cartridge in order to align the cartridge flange and the turbine flange.
When replacing the housing or reorienting the housing, clean the mating surfaces of the turbine and the cartridge. Before installation of the new clamp, make sure that the turbine housing and the cartridge are aligned. Make sure that the mating flanges are flush for the whole circumference. The use of a C-clamp is recommended for helping to align, seat, and hold the mating surfaces of the turbine and the cartridge. If there is any gap between the flanges, the flanges may not hold together when the band clamp is installed. If there is any gap, the joint will not hold when the engine runs.If necessary, strike the turbine housing with a rubber mallet in order to help align the flanges.Ensure that the inlet and outlet of the turbine are aligned with the bellows.
Loosen the bolts of the band clamp in order to install the clamp in two pieces. Apply Loctite C5-A Copper Grade Anti-Seize to the bolt threads.

Tighten one of the nuts until approximately 10 mm (0.4 inch) of thread remains exposed between the halves of the clamp.
Tighten the other nut to a torque of approximately 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Tighten the first nut to a torque of approximately 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Tap lightly all around all four sections of the clamp. Use a punch to reach the bottom of the clamp. Tap on the clamp firmly but not hard enough to deform the clamp.Tapping on all four sections is critical in order to properly seat the clamp.
Tighten the nuts to 30 2 N m (22 1 lb ft). Tap lightly all around the clamp.
Tighten the nuts again to 30 2 N m (22 1 lb ft).
Reattach the bellows to the turbocharger. Refer to the appropriate engine Disassembly and Assembly manual for information on installation of the bellows and on the torques.
