Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the rocker shaft and the pushrods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Pushrod - Remove".
Remove the camshaft drive gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft Drive Gear - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Remove the camshaft inspection covers from each side of the engine.

Remove bolt (1) and cap (2). Move lever (3) away from the control shaft.
Remove bolt (4).
Remove rod assembly (5) and lever (3) as a unit.
Remove lever (3) from rod assembly (5).

Remove the bolts and plate assembly (7) from rocker arm support (6).
Remove lever (8) from plate assembly (7).

Remove the bolts and washers for covers (9) on both sides of the rear housing. Remove the covers and the gaskets from both sides of the rear housing.

Remove rod assemblies (10) and (11) from the fuel control shaft.

Remove flange (12) from the rear of the cylinder block.
Remove the nut, the washers, and bolts (16) that connect shafts (13) and (14) together.
Move shaft (13) away from bracket (15).
Remove shaft (14) through the opening in the rear of the engine.
Remove the bolts and bracket (15).
Remove shaft (13) through the opening in the rear of the engine.
Start By:
