Gear pump (1) is located under the operator's platform. The gear pump is attached to vibratory pump (2). The gear pump is a fixed displacement pump. Oil Flow
The gear pump draws oil through the suction screen from the hydraulic tank. The gear pump is always turning when the engine is running. As a result, the gear pump is always delivering system pressure oil through the line to the metering pump. After the system pressure oil flows through the metering pump, this oil goes through the charge filter and to the following components:
Axle propel pump
Drum propel pump
Vibratory pumpThe hydraulic oil is now referred to as charge oil. Charge pressure is regulated by a relief valve in the axle propel pump. The other 2 pumps have relief valves that are set at 500 kPa (73 psi) higher than the axle propel pump. These relief valves are only there in case something happens to the single controlling relief in the axle propel pump.
