Check transmission speed sensor at Rear Main harness connector C162. Expected Result: The transmission speed sensor is connected.
YES, go to Step 2.
NO, reconnect transmission speed sensor connector C162 and recheck fault code at EMC. If fault code is not active, repair is complete.
Check installation of transmission speed sensor. Expected Result: The transmission speed sensor is loose in the transmission housing.
YES, go to Step 3.
NO, go to Step 4.
Inspect for damage.Expected Result: The sensor is damaged.
YES, replace transmission speed sensor. Check fault code and if no longer active the repair is complete.
NO, re-install sensor and re-tighten. Check fault code and if no longer active the repair is complete.
Disconnect transmission speed sensor connector C162. Unbolt the CCM inside the cab, lift it up, and disconnect CCM connector C002. Check for open circuit in Rear Main harness between C002-9 and C162-1, C002-8 and C162-2. Expected Result: There is an open circuit.
YES, locate and repair open circuit in Rear Main harness. Check fault code and if no longer active the repair is complete.

Check for short circuit in Rear Main harness between chassis ground and C162-1. Also between chassis ground and C162-2.Expected Result: There is an open circuit.
YES, locate and repair short circuit in Rear Main harness. Check the fault code. The repair is complete if the fault is no longer active.
NO, go to Step 6.
Switch the engine RPM sensor (C160) with the transmission speed sensor (C162) for final checkout. Expected Result: The transmission speed sensor works correctly. The engine RPM sensor reports a fault code.
YES, replace speed sensor at engine RPM connector C160. Check fault code and if no longer active the repair is complete.
