Illustration 11 g01108573
168-4605 Control Group (J) Display panel membraneThe adhesive for the display panel membrane is improved. The new adhesive properly bonds the panel membrane to the base. If the adhesive failed, the control panel buttons may not function. The improved adhesive for the control panel was effective with machines that were built after April 15, 2002. Table 5 lists the model and serial numbers of machines that were built after April 15, 2002.

Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual that is appropriate for your machine. Also refer to Specifications, System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR3899, "Air Conditioning and Heating " for additional information. The air conditioning system may turn off when the fan speed knob is rotated. This is caused by a problem in the ON/OFF switch for the fan speed. Rotate the knob for the fan speed several times in each direction. If the system turns off unexpectedly, the control panel is faulty. Replace the faulty control panel. This problem is caused by a manufacturing defect. Therefore, this problem will not develop over time. This problem will not get worse over time.Foam Baffles (Liners)
Foam baffles (liners) control the airflow from the radiator. Make sure that all the liners behind the cab are in the correct positions. Missing liners will allow the hot air from the oil coolers to exhaust directly on the cab. The hot air from the oil coolers will increase the heat load on the cab. The additional heat load will decrease the performance of the air conditioning system.Hot air can also be pulled directly into the cab through the HVAC fresh air vent located behind the cab. The cooling capacity of the air conditioning system will be reduced if the liners are not in the correct position. The cooling capacity of the A/C system will be reduced if the liners do not control the airflow from the oil coolers. The locations of the liners are shown in Illustration 12. The part numbers for the liners are listed in Table 6.Note: In order to install liner (1), remove the walkway. Note: The 322C L (S/N: BKJ) Series Excavators do not require the liners.
