Start By:
Remove the bucket.
Remove the counterweight.

Turn the carbody by 90 degrees to the undercarriage. Fully extend the stick cylinder. Position the stick onto Tooling (A). Remove boom cylinder (1). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Boom Cylinder - Remove".

Install Tooling (B).
Install Tooling (C) onto the hydraulic tank. Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (C). Apply 138 kPa (20 psi) of air. This procedure will pull a vacuum on the hydraulic system.

Disconnect hose assemblies (2) from swivel (4). Remove fittings (3).

Remove plug (7) and drain the final drive oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Remove bolts (5) and cover (6). Repeat for the other side of the machine.
Remove sun gear (8). Install cover (6) and bolts (5). Repeat for the other side of the machine.

Position Tooling (E) and Tooling (D) as shown to support the carbody for lifting. Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1303 , "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (E).

Remove bolts (9). Leave one bolt (9) remaining on each side of the swing gear and bearing housing.

Mark the mating parts of the swing gear and bearing housing for installation purposes. Install Tooling (F). Remove the remaining two bolts (9).

Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (E) to raise the carbody from the undercarriage. The weight of the carbody is approximately 5443 kg (12000 lb).

Use a suitable towing vehicle to pull the undercarriage (10) away from the carbody. The weight of undercarriage (10) is approximately 1814 kg (4000 lb).
