Introduction
This Special Instruction provides procedure how to disassemble and assemble the hydraulic oil filter on the machines listed above.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Safety Section
Illustration 1 g06141216Park the machine on level ground. Lower the bucket to the ground with the stick in a vertical position. Refer to reference section in order to prepare the machine for the rework procedure.Required Parts

Open the access door (1) on the left side of the machine.
Find the hydraulic filter (2) as shown in Illustration 2.

Remove the plug (3) from the bottom of the bowl and drain the oil into a catch tray as shown in Illustration 3.

Use socket ended spanner (4) to loosen the bowl as shown in Illustration 4.

Wind the bowl off by hand, make sure the bowl is aligned with the head as shown in Illustration 5.

Remove the filter element (6) from the housing. Inspect the three seals (5). Inspect the bowl and the head thread. Clean both the bowl and the head thread as shown in Illustration 6.

Apply a high viscosity oil or molykote paste (452-6006) to seals and surrounding aluminum. Fully lubricate full thread circumference on both head and bowl. Lubricate the element seal-O-ring fully as shown in Illustration 7.

Re-install the bowl back on the head turning the turns by hand first as shown in Illustration 8.

Tighten the housing to 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft) using a torque wrench (7). Make sure there is no gap between the head and the bowl.

Re-install the plug (3) in bowl. Tighten the plug to 40 N m (30 lb ft).
