Entanglement with rotating machinery can cause injury or death. To avoid entanglement, do not approach or work on the PTO shaft or equipment with the PTO in operation. Shut off the engine and allow the PTO to come to a stop before working on the PTO or equipment.Never stand on the machine's PTO shield during PTO operation.

Engaged - Move the lever to position (1) in order to engage the power take-off. Use the following procedure in order to engage the power take-off (PTO).
Reduce the engine speed to 1000 rpm or less.

Move the lever to position (1) in order to engage the power take-off.
Observe the power take-off equipment. Make sure that the power take-off equipment operates properly. If you find a problem, immediately stop the PTO. Excessive vibration is an example of a problem. Investigate the cause of the problem. Correct the problem before you restart the PTO.
Gradually increase the engine speed to operating speed. When you operate the PTO under load, adjust the throttle to a speed of 2050 engine rpm (1000 PTO rpm). Note: If the machine is equipped with a Machine Performance Panel, the Machine Performance Panel will display the speed of the PTO.
