Connections of the Cat Data Link (CDL) circuit967-9 = Machine Application - Abnormal Update RateThe 967-9 diagnostic code becomes active and recorded when the Implement ECM receives incorrect or incomplete information from the Machine ECMThe possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The Machine ECM is not operational and unable to communicate with the Implement ECM.
The Product ID is not programmed properly on the Machine ECM.
The Machine ECM or Implement ECM has Not been programmed with the correct software.
An open or a short exists in the Cat Data Link harness connection for the Machine ECM.
The Machine ECM or Implement ECM has failed. ECM failure is unlikely.Note: Other related diagnostic codes may cause this diagnostic code. Check for other related diagnostic codes.Note: The Implement ECM will wait approximately 2 minutes after losing communication with the Machine ECM before activating this diagnostic code.System Response:
Implement ECM features will not work properly. This fault must be cleared and the ECM reset before normal Implement ECM functionality can begin.Note: Ensure that 967-9 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. VERIFY THAT THE MACHINE AND IMPLEMENT ECM INFORMATION IS CORRECT
Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat® ET) and verify the following:
The Machine ECM is powered-up and is operational.
The Product ID value is correctly configuration in the Machine and Implement ECMs.
Software part numbers for the Machine and Implement ECMs are correct.Note: If necessary, consult your Dealer Technical Communicator (TC) for additional correct configuration information.Expected Result:The Machine ECM is operational and all ECM information is correct.Results:
OK - The Machine ECM is operational and all ECM information is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - A Machine ECM failure is found or Product ID values are missing or ECM software is not correct. Repair: Correct as needed. Troubleshoot any Machine ECM failures and correct any missing Product ID values. If an ECM requires new software, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program" in this manual.STOPTest Step 2. INSPECT THE DATA LINK HARNESS CONNECTIONSReference Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electrical Connector - Inspect" in this manual.
