1. Close the bucket and put the stick and bucket under the foreboom.2. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder. Remove the bolt and pin (1) from the boom. If the pin is difficult to remove use tooling (B).3. Operate the machine and move the boom cylinder rod into the cylinder far enough to let the cylinder rod end be removed. Lower the cylinder. If both cylinders are to be removed follow Steps 2 and 3 for the other cylinder before any oil lines are disconnected.4. Open the bleed screws to release oil pressure in the boom circuit. See the topic, Release Oil Pressure In Main System, in the Testing And Adjusting Manual. 5. Fasten tool (A) to the boom cylinder. Remove the bolt that holds the pin.6. Remove pin (2). If the pin is difficult to remove, use tooling (B). 7. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4) from the left boom cylinder. Lower the cylinder and make the undercarriage a support for it. 8. Fasten a hoist to the left boom cylinder. Remove the bolt that holds pin (5). Remove pin (5) with tooling (C). Remove the cylinder. The weight of the cylinder is 142 kg (315 lb).Install Boom Cylinder
1. Fasten a hoist and put cylinder (1) in position on the machine. Install pin (2) and the bolt that holds the pin in place. 2. Connect hose assemblies (3) and (4) to the left boom cylinder. 3. Install pin (5) in the right boom cylinder. If the pin is difficult to install by hand, use tooling (B). Install the bolt that holds the pin in place.4. Start the machine and move the rod out of the boom cylinder until the pin hole in the rod is in alignment with the pin hole in the boom. 5. Install pin (6) in the rod end. If the pin is difficult to install by hand, use tooling (B). Install the bolt that holds the pin in place. Remove tool (A).6. Fill the hydraulic tank to the correct level.Disassemble Boom Cylinder
Start By:a. remove boom cylinder 1. Remove the tube assembly from the head. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder and put it in position on tool (A).2. Slowly extend the cylinder to let the oil run out.3. Remove eight bolts (1) from the head. Remove rod and head from the cylinder. 4. Remove nut (2) from the rod with tooling (B). 5. Remove piston (3) from the rod. 6. Remove seal assembly (4) and ring (5) from piston (3). 7. Remove the head from the rod. Remove stop (6) from inside the head. Remove O-ring seal and backup ring (7) from the head. Remove three seals (8) from inside the head. 8. Remove seal (9) from stop (6).Assemble Boom Cylinder
For correct installation of all O-ring seals and seals, see illustration of boom cylinder.1. Install the three seals inside of head (9). Install backup ring and O-ring seal (10) on the head. Install head (9) on the rod. Put clean hydraulic oil
