(9YF) Wheel LoaderReference: Service Magazine; July 4, 1994; Page 9; "Improved Impeller Clutch Torque Converter Control Eliminates False System Signal From Being Sent To The Electronic Monitoring System (EMS) Description of Change: A new 116-1438 Torque Converter Control provides software improvements that help eliminate unreliable fault signals from being sent to the EMS. To prevent these unreliable signals from being sent to EMS the new Torque Converter Control has the following changes: 1. The diagnostic code CID 678 F01 (impeller clutch pressure too low) has been eliminated. Normal variations in operating conditions made this diagnostic signal unreliable.2. The EMS warning for the following speed sensor fault codes has been eliminated.* CID 671 - F00 (Transmission output speed sensor signal above normal range)* CID 671 - F01 (Transmission output speed sensor signal below normal range)* CID 672 - F00 (Torque Converter output speed sensor signal above normal range)* CID 672 - F01 (Torque converter output speed sensor signal below normal range)These faults codes will be logged into the Torque Converter Control's memory but the fault code signals will not go to the EMS.
3. The length of time, before fault codes CID 671 - F01 and CID 672 - F01 are logged into memory, has been increased. This makes it less likely that an incorrect fault code will result from certain operating conditions.4. The harness code, used to let the torque converter control know what model of machine that it is installed on, has changed from "002" for the former control to "003" for the current 116-1438 Torque Converter Control.Adaptable To: The new 116-1438 Control Group is direct replacement for the former 3E-8929 and 110-5206 Control Groups. The former control groups are canceled. When replacing the control, a new 3E-9256 film is required.
