PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
At the machine:
1. Turn the machine Key Switch to the ON position and wait 5 minutes.
2. Locate the PL241 radio and check to see if all 3 LEDs are ON solid (not blinking). If all 3 LEDs are not ON solid then remove power from the device as follows:
-- For machines with a Disconnect Switch turn the Disconnect Switch to the OFF position (0) for 2 minutes and then back to the ON position (1).
-- For machines without a Disconnect Switch remove the 12-pin plug from the PL241 radio, wait 2 minutes, and then plug back into the PL241 radio.
Note: The 305.5E2 (WE2[00001-01493]) and 306E2 (E2W[00001-02360]) bypasses the Disconnect Switch. For these machines remove the 12-pin plug from the PL241 radio, wait 2 minutes, and then plug back into the PL241 radio.
3. Start the machine and wait 10 minutes.
4. Check to see if all 3 LEDs are now ON solid (not blinking). If not, then restore operation to the PL241 radio using the Troubleshooting Guide (UENR6983).
5. Using Cat Electronic Technician (ET) configure the service meter hours on the PL241 to match the machine service meter hours.
6. The PL241 radio device needs update to the latest software (530-3118). Please use Caterpillar's Product Support Customer Relations Management (PSCRM) system to create a ?System Technology? event type service request (SR). The Inquiry Type needs to be Product Technologies with the Workgroup/Subsystem = Product Link. In the description field, please use ?FOTA Request? and the PL241 software needs to be updated. This will require acknowledgment of Customer consent to proceed with the FOTA prior to submitting to Caterpillar.
