Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the wheel (rear). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, Wheel (Rear) - Remove and Install for the correct procedure.

Loosen three bolts (1).

Loosen nut (4) and turn bolt (3) to loosen the tension on chain (2).

Remove the cotter keys, the plate, and the master link.
Remove chain (2)Installation Procedure
Install chain (2) in the reverse order of removal.
Set chain (2) tension at the mid-span. Attach a pull gauge to the mid-point of the chain. Apply a pulling force of 111 5 N (25 1 lb) and measure the deflection of the chain. Pull chain (2) in the opposite direction with a pulling force of 111 5 N (25 1 lb) and measure the deflection of the chain. Add the two measurements and the resulting number should be 7 3 mm (0.3 0.1 inch).
Tighten nut (3) to a torque of 410 25 N m (302 18 lb ft).
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 410 25 N m (302 18 lb ft).End By:
