The cylinder block has six cylinders that are arranged in-line.

(7) Bolt Cylinder liners (1) can be removed for replacement. The top surface of the cylinder block is the seat for the cylinder liner flange. Engine coolant flows around the cylinder liners in order to keep the cylinder liners cool. Filler band (2) and three O-ring seals (3) seal the coolant in the cylinder block.Steel spacer plate (4) is between the cylinder head and the block. Plate gasket (5) is installed between the spacer plate and the cylinder block. The plate and the gasket accommodate the thickness of the cylinder liner flange.Main bearing caps (6) are fastened to the cylinder block with two bolts (7) per cap.

Two inlet valves (12) and two exhaust valves (13) and two are controlled by a camshaft and pushrods. Valve guides are pressed into the cylinder heads.Coolant is pumped from the cylinder block into the cylinder head through water seals (10). The water seals are the thickness of the two gaskets and the spacer plate. The coolant exits the cylinder head through water passages into the water cooled exhaust manifold.
