Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install shaft assembly (21) into the coupling adapter housing. The weight of shaft assembly (21) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).

Apply Tooling (D) onto lip seal (19). Install O-ring seal (20) and lip seal (19) onto bearing retainer (18).

Install bearing retainer (18). Install bolts (17).
Use the following steps to assemble coupling (15).Note: The housing, the star hub, and the elements need to be thoroughly lubricated to allow for ease of assembly.

Installation sequence.
Note: Element set (E) must be installed in the sequence shown in Illustration 8 to ensure ease of assembly.
Lubricate the housing and blades of star hub (D) with Tooling (F) before reinserting star hub (D) into the coupling.
Lubricate then stack element set (E) in the coupling. The round main elements are in the clockwise-side of the pockets and the asymmetrical trailing elements are on the counter clockwise-side of the pockets with the arrow pointing radially outward. Refer to Illustration 6 through Illustration 8. Stack the main elements in the original orientation to prevent altering the direction of compression (set).Note: The element set (E) is to be replaced as a set.
Use a suitable lifting device and install cover plate (C) using eight bolts (1) and eight hard washers (2). The approximate weight of cover plate (C) is 23 kg (51 lb).Repeatedly tighten bolts (1) to 460 60 N m (340 44 lb ft) in a star pattern, until no further bolt movement occurs.

Apply Tooling (D) to the splines of drive hub (16). Use Tooling (A) to install coupling (15) onto drive hub (16). The weight of coupling (15) is approximately 163 kg (360 lb). The weight of drive hub (16) is approximately 39 kg (86 lb).
Install bolts (14).

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install coupler assembly (13). The weight of coupler assembly (13) is approximately 202 kg (445 lb).

Install O-ring seal (12).

Install retainer (11). Install bolt (10). Tighten bolt (10) to a torque of 520 70 N m (384 52 lb ft)

Invert the coupling adapter. Install spacer (9).

Apply Tooling (D) onto lip seal (7). Install O-ring seal (8) and lip seal (7) onto bearing retainer (6).

Install bearing retainer (6). Install bolts (5).
Use two people to install yoke assembly (4). The weight of yoke assembly (4) is approximately 32 kg (71 lb).
Install O-ring seal (3).
