Maintenance Schedule
Regular maintenance is required for optimum operation of the heating system. The regular maintenance that is required for the heater is listed in Table 1. Make several copies of Table 1 in order to keep a record of the maintenance. Instructions for the maintenance procedures follow Table 1.The intervals for performing the maintenance are provided as guidelines. Particular installations may require more frequent maintenance intervals.
Table 1
Maintenance Schedule for the Jacket Water Heater and the Lube Oil Heater
Interval     Maintenance Procedure     Technician     Date
Initial Start-Up     Check the heating element's resistance to ground.
Measure the cooling system's voltage potential.
Every Week     Inspect the heating system.
Check the indicator for humidity (if equipped) in the control box.
Every 3 Months or 2000 Service Hours     Inspect the control box.
Every 6 Months or 4000 Service Hours     Lubricate the pump motor's bearing. (1)
Inspect the flow switch and clean the flow switch.
Every Year or 8000 Service Hours     Clean the heating element and the heating tank.
Check the heating element's resistance to ground.
Check the mounting bolts.
Measure the cooling system's voltage potential.
As Required     Replace the heating element.
Replace the heating tank's O-ring seal.
Replace the thermostat.
Replace the pump's seals and gaskets.
( 1 ) This maintenance is only for pump motors with grease fittings.Check the Heating Element's Resistance to Ground
Condensation may have collected in the heating element during storage and/or shipping. This can cause the heating element to malfunction. Perform the following procedure before the initial start-up. Perform the procedure after the heater has been stored.
High voltage may be present. The power source must be disconnected before working on equipment. Failure to disconnect the power source could result in injury or death.
Switch OFF the circuit breaker for the main power supply. Turn OFF the 24 V supply.Note: The wiring for the heating element can be a wye configuration or a delta configuration.

Remove cover (1). Inspect the end of the element for signs of moisture.
Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance from each of the element's terminals to the control box's ground. Make sure that the ohmmeter's probe contacts a bare metal ground.Expected ResultThe end of the element is dry. The resistance from each of the heating element's terminals to ground is 200,000 ohms or
