Illustration 1 g01070998This diagnostic code is recorded when the power train ECM does not recognize the harness code that is being sent by the VIMS ECM.Note: Ensure that the CID 0650 FMI 09 diagnostic code is active.System Response:Transmission control will be disabled. The transmission will not shift in this state.Note: VIMSpc must be connected and communicating with the machine to change the 288224 (ATTACH) code.Test Step 1. CHECK THE ATTACHMENT CODE.
Ensure that the correct attachment code is entered into the service program.
Enter "ATTACH" on the VIDS/VIMS keypad.
Enter "OK" on the VIDS/VIMS keypad.
The VIDS/VIMS MESSAGE DISPLAY will prompt you to enter the "ATTACH" codes.
Enter the attachment code and press "OK" on the keypad.Note: The correct attachment must be entered twice on the keypad to be accepted. The power train ECM may log a CID 0650 FMI 02 code shortly after the attachment code has been entered. The new code indicates that the attachment code has changed.

YES - All the part numbers are correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - All the part numbers are NOT correct.Repair: Replace the incorrect ECM with a module that has the correct part number. Flash the correct software. See the Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Flash Program" section of this manual.STOPTest Step 3. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTIONS
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspect all harness connections that are related to the CAT data link. Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.
Check the connectors for proper mating. Ensure that all the seals are present and in place.
Check the harness for signs of damage or abrasion.
Check the wires at the connector. Ensure that the wires are secured tightly into the connector. Take care not to pull the wire out of the connector.
Check the exposed wires at the connectors for nicks or signs of abrasion.
