This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs.The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS53369" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Relative motion between the compressor out tubes and the air shut-off causes fretting of the components and wearing of the o-ring seals on certain 3516B Marine Engines.

ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the compressor out tubes with new fabricated tubes that encompass a new hump hose design that isolates the tube from the turbo and air shut-off. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Install 2 studs into each side of the aftercooler. Secure. Install air shut-off brackets with seals, bolts, spacers and nuts. Secure.

Install plug with seal and clips to air shut-off brackets and secure.

Install left and right air shut-off with seals. Secure.

Install grommets, clamps, and diodes to the air shut-off solenoid. Secure.

Install adapter brackets, tubes, and hump hoses to engine. Secure fastener hardware first then secure clamps.

Install support to rear cylinder heads 15 and 16. Secure.
