Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Check the oil level of the transmission under the following conditions:
The transmission oil is warmed to operating temperature.
The engine is at LOW IDLE.
The transmission is in NEUTRAL.

Sight gauge (1) is located on the side of the transmission case. Breather cap (2) is located on top of the transmission.
Maintain the transmission oil level between the "ADD" mark and the "FULL" mark on the "HOT" side of sight gauge (1).
Remove breather cap (2) and add oil, if necessary. Note: The oil level in the sight glass will be higher when the engine is not running.Note: The breather and filler cap (2) is located on top of the transmission. Transmission oil can be added through the breather and filler cap, if necessary. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".
