(1) Rotor speed sensorRotor speed sensor (1) is located in the lower rotor drive compartment. The lower belt guard door allows access to this component.Note: The lower idler can be seen in the upper left corner of the illustration. The belt visible in the illustration is the lower drive belt.Rotor speed sensor (1) is a hall effect type sensor, used to measure the speed of the lower sheave. As the teeth of the lower sheave pass by the sensor, a pulse signal is generated. The frequency of the signal is monitored by the transmission ECM. The sensor is used to assure proper rotor speed is maintained and to detect sudden rotor speed changes.

(2) Moldboard cylinder height sensorThe moldboard cylinder is equipped with height sensor (2). This sensor is installed at the top of the head end of the moldboard cylinder.Moldboard cylinder height sensor (2) is used to monitor the position of the moldboard door. The moldboard door is the rear enclosure of the rotor chamber. The moldboard on the bottom edge of this door scrapes the milled surface to minimize the amount of material left behind. The moldboard door can be raised and locked in place to provide access to the rotor chamber for service. The machine ECM monitors moldboard cylinder height sensor (2) to prevent the rotor from being engaged when the moldboard is fully raised. When the moldboard is fully raised, the machine ECM disables the propel system and the steering system. At the same time, the transmission ECM disables the rotor system and other auxiliary hydraulic systems. The status of the moldboard door is relayed to the transmission ECM through the CAN lines for rotor control. The moldboard door must be lowered into the working range for the transmission ECM to engage the rotor.Note: Refer to Machine Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, "Auxiliary Hydraulic System" , Electrical Schematic for more information on the moldboard door and service mode status.

(3) Side plate height sensorEach side plate cylinder is equipped with height sensor (3). Each sensor is installed at the top of the head end of the corresponding side plate cylinder. The side plate cylinders are at the front and rear of the side plates. The right front position sensor is shown in the above illustration.Side plate position sensors (3) are used to monitor the position of the respective side plate and communicate the position of the individual side plates to the machine electronic control system. When a grade and slope system is installed, the sensors are used to control rotor depth.Side plate position sensor (3) is a linear sensor that sends a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal directly to the transmission ECM. These sensors allow the ECM to monitor the vertical position of the side plates. The signal is used in the rotor depth control logic, and to prevent inadvertent rotor surface contact while the machine is traveling in reverse.Note: Refer to Auxiliary
