Maintenance Practices
The maintenance intervals for the turbocharger will depend on the following criteria:
Operating conditions of the turbocharger
Quality of the engine oil
Condition of the engine oilTurbocharger Turbine Wheel, Turbine Nozzle, Compressor Wheel, and Diffuser
Clean and inspect the intake and the exhaust sides of the turbocharger after each 8,000 hours of operation.Thrust Bearing
Clean and inspect the thrust bearing should be cleaned and inspected. If necessary, replace the thrust bearing.Journal Bearings
Clean and inspect the journal bearings after each 8,000 hours of operation. If necessary, replace the journal bearing.Balancing the Turbocharger Shaft, the Turbocharger Compressor Wheel, and the Turbocharger Turbine Wheel
The rotating parts of the turbocharger include the following parts:
The turbocharger shaft and turbine wheel
The turbocharger compressor wheelBalance the rotating parts of the turbocharger at the Top End Overhaul or after every 18,000 to 24,000 hours of operation. Also, balance the rotating parts if any of the rotating parts experience damage or if any of the rotating parts are replaced.
