(1) Rubber element Check the condition of the isolators. Replace any isolator that shows deterioration. See the Application and Installation Guide for the engine. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for assistance. The isolators must be kept clean and dry. Inspect the isolator and the rubber element (1) of each isolator for the following conditions:
Oil contamination
Cracking
Swelling
Mechanical damageIn case of contamination of the rubber element, the rubber element should be cleaned with mild cleaning agents. Do not clean the rubber element with a caustic cleaning solvent.The resilient mounts are subject to a constant load and a deflection determined by the amount of deformation. This deformation is influenced by environmental conditions such as temperature, static load, and dynamic load. For this reason, periodic inspection and the measurement of the deflection should be performed.Note: It is important to keep accurate records of all of the measurements so that trends can be developed for the life of the isolators. Consult your Caterpillar dealer for information regarding the isolator.Ensure that the mounting bolts are tightened to the proper torque.
