Measuring Crimp Diameter
Quality control of finished crimped hose assemblies is maintained by measuring the crimp diameter. Crimp diameters can be measured using a micrometer, calipers, caliper measurement system, or a Crimputer.For more information on measuring crimp diameters, refer to NEHS0768 General Information for Hose Assembly.
Deburr the outside of the coupling to remove any sharp edges.Note: When correctly crimped, the outside covering on Thermoplastic Hose, 1543 Air Conditioning Hose should slightly protrude (bulge) into the small hole of the coupling. Discard any hose assembly that does not meet this requirement.

Measure the crimp diameter at the halfway point on the crimped area. Measure four places at the smooth area between ridges. Record and average the four readings. Discard any hose assembly that does not meet crimp specifications.

Measure the Crimp Diameter
Discard any hose assembly that does not meet crimp specifications. If crimps meet specifications, clean the inside of the hose using a hose cleaner group.Crimp Diameters
