Information:
the lift linkage position sensor is being calibrated, the ECM will record the range of lift arm motion. This changes the range that is used by the ECM from the default range to the actual range. The ECM records these motions in memory. The ECM uses the range until the system is recalibrated or the sensor fails. Note: For correct calibration operation, the machine must remain running for at least 3 minutes after performing calibration procedures. The ECM will recalibrate the sensor during this time. After the three minutes, the display will stop flashing and the display will return to a solid display. If the machine is turned off early the calibration will be erased.
Perform the following adjustment procedure before proceeding to step 2: Testing and Adjusting, "Position Sensor (Lift Linkage) - Adjust".Note: After any adjustments are made to the sensor, perform the following procedure:
The key start switch remains in the ON position.
Lower the lift linkage fully.
Disconnect the sensor from the harness for 5 seconds.
Reconnect the sensor to the harness.
Connect the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to the service connector. The service connector is located behind the fuse access door in the right rear corner of the cab.
Start the engine and operate at low idle.
Move the mode switch until "7" appears on the display screen. Then release the switch. A three digit number will appear on the display screen. Note: If the display screen is blinking then the position sensor must be calibrated. If the display screen is not blinking, then the position sensor does not need to be calibrated. If recalibration is desired, recalibration can be initiated by disconnecting the lift arm position sensor from the harness for 5 seconds with the key start switch in the ON position.
Tilt the bucket fully rearward and lower the lift linkage fully.
Keep the bucket tilted fully rearward and raise the lift linkage fully. The lift linkage may stop at one or two points before full lift height is reached. If the cylinder stops, recenter the lever. Then continue to fully raise the bucket. When full lift height is reached, the reading that is displayed should be between 850 and 900. If the reading is outside of this range, lower the linkage and readjust the sensor in order to change the value.Note: The reading represents the duty cycle for the sensor. When "850" is displayed, the reading is "85%".
Tilt the bucket fully rearward and lower the lift linkage fully. The display should show a value between 100 and 190. If the display shows a value outside this range, the lift linkage position sensor should be readjusted. Adjust the sensor until the reading falls within this range.
The sensor reading will continue to blink for 3 minutes after the lift linkage has been exercised through full range of motion. These 3 minutes allow the ECM to readjust the calibration, if necessary. After 3 minutes, the display will stop blinking. This indicates that the new calibration for the lift arm position sensor has been completed.
