Working With 3D Guidance
The most common tasks you perform while you work in 3D guidance are as follows:
Set working surface lift and/or vertical offset
Select horizontal alignment
Set horizontal offset
Select bucket tip for horizontal guidanceSet Working Surface Lift And/Or Vertical Offset
To change the vertical offset, complete the following steps:Note: If the design surface is the working surface, "value B" (the Working surface field) is unavailable.
Press "V. Offset". If your site manager has selected a working surface for the job which is not the design surface, a dialog similar to Illustration 12 appears.

(1) "Swap Sign" softkey
If required, use any of the following tools to set the vertical offset value:
Edit the "A" Vertical offset field directly.
Press "Swap Sign" to change the sign of the offset.
Press "Set 0.00" to set the offset to zero.
Press "+0.015" or "–0.015" in order to increment or decrement the offset by 15 mm (0.6 inch).
If required, and if the field is available, use one or more of the following tools to set the working surface lift value:
Press the "Next" key in order to highlight the field and edit the "Working Surface B) Perpendicular Lift" field directly.
Press "Swap Sign" to change the sign of the offset.
Press "Set 0.00" to set the offset to zero.
Press "+0.100" or "–0.100" in order to increment or decrement the offset by 100 mm (4 inch).Note: Remember, if you are using a layered lift working surface, then the working surface offset you are allowed to select depends on the side slope cut/fill setting in the "Select Design File" dialog. For example, if the "Side Slope" soft key is set to Fill, then the layered lift offset must be negative.
Press "OK" in order to confirm the settings, or press "ESC" in order to exit without saving. You are returned to a guidance screen.Select Horizontal Alignment
In most cases, use the "Guide to Horizontal Alignment" dialog to select a design feature to use as a horizontal guidance alignment. The exceptions are:
If the only possible alignments in the loaded design are Site Map or Background Plan features, the "Guide to Horizontal Alignment" dialog is skipped, and the graphical selection screen appears.
If you require guidance to side slopes in a road design. To select a feature to use as a horizontal guidance alignment, complete the following steps:
From any of the guidance views, press the "Alignment: <Value>" soft key. The "Guide to Horizontal Alignment" dialog appears. The following example shows the choices available in a .dc road design. Refer to Illustration 13.
