Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Power to the ECM
A. Check for power to the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Power Supply - Test".
B. Connect Cat ET to the service tool connector.
Power to ECM
Result: Cat ET does not connect.
Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electronic Service Tool Does Not Communicate".
2. Problem in the Circuit for the Cat Data Link or the CAN Data Link
A. Verify that the data link does not have an open or short circuit.

Result: Refer to Troubleshooting, "Cat Data Link - Test" and Troubleshooting, "CAN Data Link - Test".
3. Installation of Electrical Connectors
Check for correct installation of the J1/P1 and J2/P2 ECM connectors. Check for correct installation of all other applicable connectors.

Result: Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".
