When reporting the repair, use "PI30068" as the Part number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI30068" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

A new flywheel needs to be installed on certain G3304 and G3306 Gas Engines. The ignition timing marks stamped on the circumference of the flywheel may have been indexed incorrectly and the ignition time may not be set properly.

1 - 4W6805 Flywheel Assembly
ACTION REQUIRED
Check to see if the timing marks are in the correct location by pinning the flywheel and removing the large pipe plug on the left side of the flywheel housing. If the timing mark is setting on 0 (zero) +/- 2 degrees, the flywheel is okay. If the number of degrees is larger than +/- 2 degrees the flywheel will need to be replaced.

A new flywheel needs to be installed on certain G3304 and G3306 Gas Engines. The ignition timing marks stamped on the circumference of the flywheel may have been indexed incorrectly and the ignition time may not be set properly. New flywheel assemblies need to be installed on the products listed below.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated December 10, 2000 when scheduling this service. You will not be charged for the service performed.
