High voltage may be present. The power source must be disconnected before working on equipment. Failure to disconnect the power source could result in injury or death.
Do not perform any maintenance on the transfer switch until the system is locked out. In order to lock out the transfer switch, turn the "AUTO/INHIBIT" switch to the INHIBIT position. Then, put the external disconnect switch for the normal power source in the OFF position and lock out the disconnect switch. Then, put the external disconnect switch for the emergency power source in the OFF position, and lock out the disconnect switch.Remove the barriers from the transfer switch and check the condition of the contacts. Any surface deposits must be removed with a clean dry cloth. DO NOT USE AN EMERY CLOTH OR A FILE TO REMOVE DEPOSITS FROM THE CONTACTS. If the contacts are pitted or the contacts are worn, the contacts should be replaced. A general inspection of the mechanical integrity should be made. Inspect the contacts for loose parts, broken parts, or badly worn parts. Replace any parts that are loose, broken, or worn. Inspect the discharge chutes for damage. Replace the discharge chutes if the discharge chutes are damaged.After the following operations are performed on the transfer switch, reinstall the switch cover:

ServicingThen close the cabinet door and lock the cabinet door. Close the circuit breaker that feeds the utility power service to the transfer switch and close the circuit breaker that feeds the generator power output to the transfer switch.Once the maintenance is completed, the system can be energized. In order to energize the system, unlock the external disconnect switch for the normal power source. Put the disconnect switch in the ON position. Unlock the external disconnect switch for the emergency power source. Put the disconnect switch in the ON position. Finally, turn the "AUTO/INHIBIT" switch to the AUTO position.
