If the orientation cannot be verified, use Tooling (B) to orient the housings based on illustrations 5 through 8.

Do not tighten nuts (10) of V-band clamp (11) now.

Connect bellows (7) and V-band clamps (6) loosely.

Connect V-band clamp (5) loosely.

Ensure that the compressor wheel spins freely without binding or dragging. Contact with the housing may cause rapid wear and shorten turbocharger life.
Apply Tooling (A) onto the bolt threads of V-band clamp (11) Tighten the first nut (10) until only 10.0 mm (0.39 inch) of thread length remain. Tighten the second nut (10) to a torque of approximately 20 N m (177 lb in). Then, tighten the first nut (10) to a torque of approximately 20 N m (177 lb in). Tap lightly around the diameter of the V-band clamp with a suitable soft hammer. Tighten both nuts (10) to a torque of 30 2 N m (266 18 lb in). Again, Tap lightly around the diameter of the V-band clamp with a suitable soft hammer. Tighten both nuts (10) to a torque of 30 2 N m (266 18 lb in).

Tighten the V-band clamps on the turbine housing prior to the bellows V-band clamp to prevent any dragging or binding of the turbocharger rotating components. Contact may cause rapid wear and shorten turbocharger life.
Tighten V-band clamps (6) to a torque of 6.5 2 N m (58 18 lb in). Tap lightly around the diameter of the V-band clamp with a suitable soft hammer. Tighten V-band clamps (6) to a torque of 8.5 2 N m (75 18 lb in).
Tighten V-band clamp (5) to a torque of 6.5 2 N m (58 18 lb in). Tap lightly around the diameter of the V-band clamp with a suitable soft hammer. Tighten V-band clamps (6) to a torque of 8.5 2 N m (75 18 lb in).

Refill the oil inlet with clean oil. Connect hose assemblies (4).

Install elbow (3). Connect V-band clamp (2). Tighten V-band clamp (2) to a torque of 6.5 2 N m (58 18 lb in). Tap lightly around the diameter of the V-band clamp with a suitable soft hammer. Tighten V-band clamp (2) to a torque of 8.5 2 N m (75 18 lb in). Tighten clamps (1).Note: Orientate each pair of clamps (1) by rotating until the T- bolts are located 180 90 degrees from each other. Never should T- bolts be lined up side by side.
