Excavators Equipped With Electronic Engine Speed ControlIf fan belt squeal is heard during engine acceleration, tighten the belts to a tension of 512 22 N (115 5 lb) using belt tension tool BT-33-97.
If the belts have been squealing, inspect the sides of the belts for excessive heat (cracking on the sides or rubber smearing-melting). If damage is found, replace the fan belts. The 5N4851 V-Belt Set is used. When installing a NEW fan belt set, adjust the belt tension to 534 22 N (120 5 lb). Operate for .5 to 4 hours. Then adjust the belt tension to 512 22 (115 5 lb).
