CONNECTION GP-GENERATOR LEADS 2787827 - Caterpillar

The following procedure is for the removal and installation of both water temperature regulators.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system by slowly loosening the filler cap on the radiator. Drain the coolant from the radiator until the coolant level is below the water temperature regulators.2. Open the engine enclosure doors on each side of the engine. 3. Loosen clamp (1).4. Remove four bolts (3), tube assembly (2) and the gasket. 5. Remove clip (4) and four bolts (6).6. Remove elbow (5) and the gasket. 7. Remove three bolts (7), regulator cover (8) and the gasket.8. Remove the lip-type seal from the regulator cover. 9. Remove water temperature regulator (9). 10. Loosen clamp (10).11. Remove four bolts (12), tube assembly (11) and the gasket. 12. Disconnect hose assembly (13).13. Remove two bolts (14). 14. Remove three bolts (16), regulator cover (15) and the gasket.15. Remove the lip-type seal from the regulator cover. 16. Remove water temperature regulator (17). The following steps are for the installation of the water temperature regulators.17. Check the condition of all gaskets used in the installation of the water temperature regulators. If any of the gaskets are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. 18. Install the lip-type seals in regulator covers (8) and (15) with tool (A). Install the seals until they make contact with counterbore in the regulator covers and with the lip of the seals facing away from the water temperature regulators.19. Install the water temperature regulators in the reverse order of removal.20. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
