Follow the recommended procedure for removal and installation of tires and or wheel assemblies.Ensure that the machine and tire and or wheel assembly are properly supported at all times.Improper procedures that are used to remove and install tires and or wheel assemblies can result in injury or death.
The installation is the same for the tires on both sides of the machine. Only one side is shown.1. Be sure the mating surface of the rim assembly and wheel assembly are clean and free of dirt and debris prior to installing the tire and rim assembly.2. Put 4C-5593Anti-Seize Compound on the washer faces and threads of the nuts or bolts that hold the tire and rim assembly in position on the wheel assembly.
Typical Example3. Attach a hoist to Tooling (B). Position Tooling (B) to support the tire and rim assembly, as shown.4. Put the tire and rim assembly in position on the wheel assembly. The weight of the tire and rim assembly (AD40 & AE40-129 to 172) is 1370 kg (3014 lb). The weight of the tire and rim assembly (AD40 & AE40-173 & Up) is 1020 kg (2249 lb). Perform Steps 5 through 6 for AD40 & AE40-129 to 172.5. Install the 24 nuts and washers that hold the tire and rim to the wheel assembly.6. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 715 25 N m (525 20 ft). Perform Steps 7 through 8 for AD40 & AE40-173 & Up.7. Install the 36 bolts and washers that hold the tire and rim to the wheel assembly.8. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 430 60 N m (317 44 ft). 9. Raise the front of rear of the machine and remove Tooling (A) from under the truck frame. End By:a. Separate the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect" for the machine that is being serviced.
