Introduction
This procedure should be performed if the machine will operate in all gears FORWARD and REVERSE but will not turn when either of the steering control levers is pulled back. This procedure should also be performed if either of the brakes are engaged. Step 1. Check for symptom.a. Determine that the symptom is active.b. Complete this procedure only if the symptom is active. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 2.* NOT OK - STOP. Step 2. Check Steering Clutcha. Operate the machine in FIRST speed FORWARD.b. Pull back a steering control lever. Expected Result: Steering makes a gradual turn; corresponding clutch is released. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 3.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 4. Step 3. Check Brake Operationa. Operate the machine in FIRST speed FORWARD.b. Press one of the brake pedals. Expected Result: Machine makes pivot turn in direction of brake pedal. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 5. Step 4. Check Steering Clutch Pressurea. With the engine at low idle and the parking brake disengaged, check the clutch pressure at the steering and brake control valve. Use pressure tap (F) for the left steering clutch and pressure tap (J) for the right steering clutch.
Figure 1: Steering and Brake Control Valve (11)
(F) Steering clutch (left). (G) Brake (left). (H) Brake (right). (J) Steering clutch (right). Expected Result: The pressure should be 2140 150 kPa (310 22 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 9.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 6. Step 5. Check brake pressure.a. With the engine at low idle and the parking brake disengaged, check the brake pressure at the brake control valve. Use pressure tap (F) for the left hand brake and pressure tap (J) for the right hand brake.See Figure 1: Steering and Brake Control Valve (11) Expected Result: The pressure should be 2750 150 kPa (400 22 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 9.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 6. Step 6. Check system pressure.a. With the engine running at low idle and the parking brake disengaged, check system pressure at transmission main relief valve (E).

(15) Transmission. (E) Transmission main relief. (L) Transmission lubrication. (M) Oil temperature. Expected Result: System pressure should be 2925 100 kPa (425 15 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 8.* LOW PRESSURE - Proceed to Step 7. Step 7. Perform Low Power Train Oil System Pressure. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 8.* REPAIRED, OK - STOP. Step 8. Manually inspect the clutch/brake valve.a. Disassemble and inspect the clutch/brake valve for failure.b. Repair as required.c. Calibrate the steering clutch/brake modules using the procedure in SENR8367 "Power Train Electronic Control System".Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "System Calibrations" for additional information. Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 9. Step 9. Manually inspect the steering clutch/brake modules.a. Disassemble and inspect the steering clutch/brake modules.b.
